It seems like I was born with the desire to create. My fingers tingle with excitement at the feel of fabric. My mother taught me to sew when I was a young girl. I made wearable clothes for me and my sisters. I was enthralled with the Sewing and Design course that was offered at James Fowler High School. The teacher was amazing and she poured her passion and skills for creating dream dresses into a very eager student. I excelled in the pattern drafting and personal fitting. I made my first wedding dress at 17, it was for my sister who was quite tiny and couldn’t find a wedding dress to fit her. My dad was pleased to put out the money for the beautiful lace and satin. I spent many hours sewing on beads so the gown was even better than the picture!
In 1981 we moved to a property in central Alberta to begin a camp and retreat center. Although it was a very busy time with raising kids, working long hours at the camp, being involved with volunteering in the community, I still found time to escape to my sewing room and create. I often had a table at the local craft sales and planned many retreats with classes for sewing, crafting, quilting, etc.
I have been working on my niece’s wedding and it has inspired me to pursue opening a business and devote full time to creating dream dresses. I look forward to working with you to help you look and feel beautiful for your special day.
